Keeping in mind the consumers and the Bulk Waste Generators (BWG), BigBin has been created as a Waste Logistics Management initiative by SWMS. It functions as an on–demand and regular waste management solution that can schedule pick up and handling of bulk wastes in line with the SWM 2016 regulations.
BigBin has been introduced in many apartments, supermarkets, restaurants, and vegetable shops in Chennai.
It is quite known that residential waste constitutes more than 60% of the MSW in any urban area. The government has been pushing and educating people to separate waste at source using green, blue, and red bins before handing them over to the waste handlers.
What has been made an aspect of choice for the common people is mandatory for bulk waste generators in accordance with the Solid Waste Management (SWM) rules of 2016. It is necessary that all bulk waste generators ensure segregation of wastes at their source, process their wet waste either at premises or avail the services of an authorized waste handler to dispose of them properly
SWMS is one of the empaneled vendors in Greater Chennai Corporation and is authorized to collect waste from BWGs.
BigBin is a Waste Logistics Management project that works closely with Apartments, Super Markets, Marriage Halls, Restaurants, Vegetable shops, Malls and other commercial entities for their wet and Dry waste collection.
SWMS has lined up 50+ vehicles in Chennai for this job.
BigBin was launched as a mobile-based solution that enables the BWGs to schedule their waste pickup in regular and ondemand modes. The solution packs features like vehicle tracking, collection monitoring, authorizing and billing in a simple and easiest way.
The collected wet waste is primarily fed to Bio CNG plants.
Many reputed clients have already signed up with SWMS for this work and we target to rope in at least 1 lakh apartments and commercial bulk waste generators in Chennai very soon.
